Port du Canal
|
In the 1980s, after a long history as a commercial port, the Port du Canal was transformed into a marina covering an area of 3 hectares. An ornamental garden was created for the benefit of the local residents and the townspeople as a whole. An obelisk commemorates the creation of the original port in 1832.
Robert Rigot’s sculpture of “The Winged Dream” reminds us that Gustave Eiffel was born near the port in 1832. Members of the anatidae family (ducks, geese, etc.) share the water with various migratory birds nesting on the island.
Layout: garden surrounding the pool of the former port.
Vegetation: numerous trees and shrubs, flower borders.
Features: children’s playground, sandpits, paddling pool, mini football pitch, toilets, dog’s toilet, water tap.
