Eglise Notre Dame de Talant
|
This 13th century Gothic church includes the organ of Taizé, numerous statues and marvellous stained glass windows designed by Gérard Garouste.
The Talant organ:
Built in 1958 for the church of Taizé, the organ now installed in the church of Notre-Dame was bought by Talant Town Council in 1974. It was entrusted in 1996 to the Swiss firm Metzier to whom we owe its present aspect and sonority.
The stained glass windows:
The idea of adorning the church of Notre-Dame de Talant with stained glass windows dates back to the early 1980s. This is one of the very few churches in France to possess entirely figurative stained glass windows. Gérard Garouste’s style stands out against the Gothic architecture and gives an extra dimension to the church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. His resolutely figurative work pays tribute to the women who appear in the Bible.
